Course Descriptions

Face The Fear

Pre-requisite: RMTi One & Two
Credit Hours: 14 hours (1.4 credits)

Learning Outcomes – This course expands our understanding of the role reflexes play in developing a sense of safety so we can learn to live with a sense of belonging, stability and confidence. The establishment of a healthy ability to bond and attach is essential for developing our ability to express and communicate on all levels – physically, emotionally, socially, mentally and behaviourally.
Topics include:
• A deeper look at the role the Fear Paralysis plays in all the above aspects
• Exploration of the role reflexes associated with the Moro – Palmar, Infant Plantar, Rooting, Suck, Babkin and Spinal Perez – play in helping to establish language abilities, and develop maturity, confidence and self-esteem.
• Simple techniques and tools for enhancing the integration of these reflexes with both children and adults.

Includes full colour illustrated manual

RMT 1, RMT 2

Face The Fear (Extended)

RMTi 1: Focus, Organisation & Comprehension

14 Contact Hours (1.4 CEU credits)

No Pre-requisites

Learning Outcomes – How rhythmic movements assist in integrating primitive reflexes important for establishing postural control; Why this is important; for increased impulse control, attention, balance, coordination, stamina and learning.
Topics include:
• How reflexes are a journey
• How RMTi builds neuro-sensory-motor foundations for focus and higher-level learning skills
• Ways to identify developmental imbalances
• Information on a selection of reflexes involved in laying the foundations of focus and comprehension – TLR; Landau; ATNR, STNR; Spinal Galant; Amphibian; Babinski & Infant Plantar
• Methods for integrating primitive reflexes
• The 17 foundational RMT passive and active movements, plus other activities
• Concept of Less is More as it relates to RMTi
• Physiological indicators of having done enough
• Precautions and possible reactions and contraindications

Includes a full color illustrated manual

Ideal for OTs, OTAs, PTs, PTAs, SLPs, parents, social workers, family and mental health therapists, developmental optometrists and VTs, yoga therapists, classroom teachers; special education teachers; nursury and preschool teachers, health care providers; massage therapists, trauma specialists and caregivers; kinesiologists, Brain Gym instructors.

Open to all.

RMTi 2: Emotions, Memory & Behaviour

7 Contact Hours (.7 CEU credits)

Pre-requisite: RMTi One

Learning Outcomes – Learn effective RMT techniques for integrating the defensive primitive reflexes that are crucially important for learning to be safe; for developing good sensory processing and perception; as well as developing social and emotional maturity.
Topics include:
• Understanding the continuum of how we establish a realistic understanding of what is safe and not safe
• Stages of emotional maturity
• Understanding the relationship between the Fear Paralysis, Moro and Adult Startle “Strauss” reflexes.
• The important of establishing a well-modulated flight-or-fight response
• The Babkin reflex and its relationship to bonding
• The Tendon Guard and how to release long term muscle tension and emotional upset

Includes full color illustrated manual

RMTi 1

RMTi 1 & 2 (Combined)

Two classes are taught as one unit

21 Contact Hours (2.1 CEU Credits)

This class is usually 3 days. It covers the curriculum of both level one and two. Please refer to those levels for information.

You will still be able to attend either the level one or level two component of the class. Ask the sponsor for details.

Open to all

RMTi 3: Reading & Writing

14 Contact Hours (1.4 CEU credits)

Pre-requisite: RMTi One & strongly recommended RMTi Two

Learning Outcomes- Understand how our reading and writing ability is affected by various factors such as vision, the ability to recognise the sounds of the language and motor ability.
Topics include:
• Relationship of retained reflexes to reading and writing challenges
• How to check for non-integrated primitive reflexes relating to reading and writing
• How to improve reading and writing abilities with RMT movements, gentle isometric techniques and other movement related activities.
• Further information and integrating techniques for the Moro, TLR and STNR reflexes
• Development of Head Righting for postural stability leading to efficient learning ability
• The importance of the Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (ATNR) for later reading and writing skills
• Auditory processing challenges and connection to reading problems
• Hand Reflexes and fine motor development essential for writing skills
• Eye & Ear Development & Challenges Neural Patterns for Reading
Includes a full colour illustrated manual

RMT 1, RMT 2

RMTi for School Readiness

14 Hours

This 2-day class focusses on using Rhythmic Movements with young children, as well as looking at how to identify when primitive reflexes are not integrated. The class looks at using activities and games to introduce the movements to children, as well as developing your own activities and games.

There is no prerequisite for this class. It is suitable for parents, childcare workers, nursery, preschool and kindergarten teachers as well as those who would like to extend their RMT knowledge.

Open to all.

RMTi for School Readiness Teacher Training

8 Contact Hours

This One-Day class is for those training to be RMT for School Readiness Instructors. The day is very intensive with participants having to demonstrate competency in demonstrating movements and an understanding of how to teach them to groups of children. You will also need to a good knowledge of the postural indicators of retained reflexes and how to observe them in groups.

A background in working with young children and games, songs and other activities that can be adjusted for reflex integration group work is essential.

Prerequisite for this class is to have attended Level One, Two and Three and School Readiness at least once. To have an interest in and a good understanding of Early to Mid Childhood education.

RMT 1, RMT 2, RMT 3, RMT for School Readiness

RMTi Intensive

32 Contact Hours (3.2 CEU credits)

This occasional class is for those wanting to know more about RMT. The movements, reflexes, brain theory, posture, behaviour etc are explored indepth in small and large group settings. Participants need to be prepared to come and demonstrate movements and reflexes. Time is spent looking at postures and what they may tell us about reflex retention.

Prerequisite: The minimum requirement is to have attended Level 1 and 2 at least once, and to have practiced the movements with yourself and others. A genuine desire to gain an in depth understanding of movement and development, and a willingness to participate, question and explore is needed.
